Choose Your Own Adventure:
How Children's Literature Shapes Our Lives

This exhibition highlighted a selection of children's literature from the Marsha Gontarski Children's Literature Collection held in by the FSU Libraries Special Collections & Archives. This exhibition asked visitors to explore different archetypes that children's books often sets up for the reader: researcher, daydreamer, detective, traveler, or activist. In partnership with local bookstore Midtown Reader, we collected books during the duration of the exhibition which were donated to the local branch of the Children's Home Society. We held a closing event with the donor of the collection, Marsha Gontarski, Ph.D.; who gave a talk on her collection and her research on visual literacy skills gained through reading children's literature.
